Another night where sleep was not my friend, damn this male distraction. Now my head is pounding as much as my heart as I listen to Hides A Well’s Temporary Tattoos in between writing about Beyonce and showering. Now sitting in a towel waiting for the water to drain, I’m listening once more and contemplating what to say…the summary – it was just okay.
The title track was served up twice. The alternate version of “Temporary Tattoos” was simply a bigger chunk to chew that offered up more musical moments. It was okay, as was the deep thoughts of “Tiny Galaxies.” “Crooked Portrait” was where it was at for me though. Maybe because it was the lightest and the Amelia Earhart reference really surprised me and made me listen more closely. Lyrically though, this record plays alternative, musically it’s somewhere between there and indie.
I think the shower’s done draining so I’ll continue to get ready to escape my constant four walls for the day, but before I head out into triple digit weather I have to tell you to check out Hides A Well if you’re into that indie scene that packs a little punch, maybe just a little jab. You can get your hands on Temporary Tattoos now.
