Traditions: Cycles

traditions-cycles-reviewThis review was all set to be written yesterday and then my laptop acted like a scorn lover and just decided to ignore me. I never did anything wrong to it, but it thought the internet wasn’t necessary for our relationship to flourish. So Traditions’ Cycles sat undone, which was a bummer because it was a record that personally got me excited. It’s pop punk start that slowly matured in a matter of a few songs was what my week needed.

Cycles starts out strong with textbook pop punk thanks to “Ten Days” and the records best which I’m sure is as equally entertaining live as it is through speakers, “Progression Regression.” Then somehow Traditions hit puberty and decide to grow just a little with “Debt Of A Son” and continue down that road with “Polarity.” It’s still pop punk, it’s not like they went in a total unusual musical direction, they just switched the gears and drove a little different. Then they get back to where they started with “Eyes Of A Man.”

What usually takes a record or two, Traditions managed to showcase in one EP. If you’re into bands like State Champs and Head North, then you’ll fancy you some Traditions. You can judge for yourself when Cycles drops March 11th on Take This To Heart Records. In the mean time, wish me luck with my laptop – it’s a twisted life, bloggers are too poor to get new laptops, but need them to live.
