lilac-daze-on-forgiving-myself-reviewTrying to juggle nine or so different responsibilities is not something I suggest, for you’ll end up with a physical response to anxiety – like myself. I’m pulling through though for the sake of getting things done and today have Lilac Daze’s On Forgiving Myself for you lovely people who enjoy a mix of chaos and cool in music that takes the shape of an indie punk record with an alternative underbelly.

If this album were to have a famous face, it’d look like Janeane Garofalo in Reality Bites. That’s who instantly came to mind when “We Never Were” went back and forth between the very distinct leading vocals. It has a ‘90s feel to it that was appreciated, but the punk settled in with “Coal Tinted Glasses” and even more so with “Into The Woods.” It was “Cooper” though who really did the trick by bringing to life a resemblance to Be Your Own Pet’s coarse style.

With another task done, I’ll likely take my time getting to the next as I’ve found myself in “Virtues” lyrics but that’s neither here nor there. If you’re a fan of DIY punk that’s doing things its own way and not in a manner that’s as cookie cutter as could be, check out Lilac Daze’s On Forgiving Myself, out now.
