First off, I’d like to say I hate myself for being out of the loop when it comes to bands like The Vantage. Where were they hiding and why’d it take this long for their music to reach my ears. It’s obvious I had no clue this fusion of rock, pop and alternative existed until two days ago. Now what was a tired state of mind has transformed into a wide eyed situation as I listen to This Time Now as many times as I can before I have to head out for the day.
The record came out a couple months ago, so I was going to pass up writing about it but then I clicked “Changes” and was like, nope – I must share this with you. From the first note I was in. The song goes through so many layer, you’d think it was a desirable onion. “On My Way” is perfect for the hot weather we’re experiencing in California (sorry rest of the country that may still be below zero). It’s just one of those songs you have to pair with a perfect day. “From The Start” is this slow song that’s just pretty and makes you all girly and giddy, while “City I’m Dreaming Of” would be my go to in about a month when I need a pick me up.
Sadly our time together on this page is winding down, but when The Vantage say “songs were all for nothing,” they sang an untrue statement for this album is keeper through and through. I’d say if you’re into bands that could play Warped Tour one minute and a Top 40 radio festival the next, then you’ll dig The Vantage so make sure to check out This Time Now, again – it’s out now and available for the “name your own” price for a couple more days so get on it!
