It’s Friday and that means in a few hours I’ll have to talk to the one person on earth who makes me think murder is okay under the right circumstances. To ease my mind of that conversation that’s bound to end with me quitting my job, I’m listening to some very cool, infectious yet dream like indie pop. EVVY and her self-titled debut is calming enough that it pushed aside my homicidal rage just long enough…
Right off the bat “Got Me Movin’” reminded me vocally of my favorite Spice Girl, Mel C. If she has a full name, it escapes me because she’s either that or Sporty. Anyways, it was one of the two tracks on the EP that offered up a bit of a dance party. They were nothing too rowdy, just enough to get you grooving a bit. The other dance like track, “Never Let You Go” went well with “Collide” as they were these beautifully crafted songs of affection. Other than those I felt “Calling” was nothing short of pretty and that “Haze” was indeed mesmerizing.
All in all this is a good record if you dig that indie pop that sounds almost like a nice dream. Also, if you fancy artists like Polaris Rose and Julia Easterlin…I urge you to make EVVY a part of your every day regular routine. With that I’m signing off for the weekend. By this time Monday I may have some employment news to share…will she or won’t she finally quit the job with the asshole? Tune in next time and in the meantime get your hands on EVVY, out now.
