Mildura: If Not Okay

mildura-if-not-okay-reviewLove, liking someone, infatuation – these are all silly things we’ll all go through in our lifetime and no matter when it happens, it’ll be a whirlwind of emotions for most. Right now I like someone who refuses to acknowledge my existence and it sucks balls. So I listening to the emotions in Mildura’s If Not Okay is kind of getting me down but the music is picking me up. I’m a mess, while they’re an indie pop band with some emo undertones from Southern California.

The music overall was great, that’s nothing to argue about. Kudos to whoever arranges all that and makes sure it’s a delight throughout. You couldn’t help but notice the songs right at the start were aimed at someone in particular, a girl. It seems like “Bet It’s Great” was point A in the relationship and then “Better” was towards the end when it got a little harder. It’s not always a gal who’ll catch your heart though and that’s proven in “Santa Barbara”…unless they were being symbolic and that really is about a girl, again. All that aside, I really dug “AAA” because I too have stared at past conversations trying to decipher hints of what went wrong, or what could’ve gone better. Lastly, I really with “Coynes” was sung with the passion of a Dashboard Confessional track because Mildura was giving me a whisper when I wanted more of a scream.

Love songs, not so love songs and some quiet moments all wrapped up in wonderfully arranged music. That’s what you’re getting from Mildura’s latest. So while I wait for my infatuation with ignorance to either fade or grow more desperate, you make sure to do better and check out If Not Okay, out now.
