It Looks Sad. No, this isn’t the name of my reflection. It’s a band and their self-titled record. Four songs deep it kept reminding me of a band I thought I liked but really don’t care all that much for. That’s not to say this isn’t a well crafted record, it’s just not my cup of water (I don’t really do tea).
Seahaven – that’s the band I kept thinking about as songs like “Fingers” and “Ocean” played on and on. It’s like muffled rock for a young crowd. Those two kept passing me by, but the other two were okay in their own right. I perked up with “Raccoon” and really have to say I appreciated the music overall. Then there was “Radical.” If you’re going to choose one song to get to know first on It Looks Sad, let it be this one. It’s the best representative to send out for the album as a whole.
Starting today you can catch It Looks Sad on the road for a little over a week, and on August 5 you can get your hands on It Looks Sad. So start making plans because even though they aren’t for me, you might like this Tiny Engines band.
