Yesterday I got the wireless Sega and I’m trying really, really hard not to abandon all my writing to play Sonic 2. So with willpower in full force, I’m listening to Little Big League and Ovlov’s Split. It’s quick and simple indie rock that’ll leave you wanting more because it’s just an itty bitty taste of what these two bands have to offer.
Little Big League gave just a pinch more having two tracks on the record. I leaned more towards “Year Of The Sunhouse” though over “Pure Bliss Choices” just because it had a softer approach. The other seemed more edgy. “Year” offered a sweet take on songwriting while giving a ‘90s college radio feel. Then there was Ovlov’s “The Great Crocodile.” It was heavy on the music – over a minute of just pure sound until the lyrics kicked in. So those who want to get lost in arrangements, this one’s for you. I only wish there was another song to balance that one out from them.
So if you have time on a quick lunch break – you have plenty of time to check out the Split between Little Big League and Ovlov. It’s quick and easy indie rock that is out July 15th on Tiny Engines.
