They say eight hours of sleep and you’ll wake up refreshed. Well, I feel like I got hit by a bus but I’m going to keep on keeping on for blog’s sake. I also really, really wanted to get to this review because for the most part it was a fantastic record. Pilot For A Day got me with the spirited tracks on Better Day, but didn’t quite move me when they took it down. Then there were the acoustic gems since I have in my digital hands the deluxe version…we’ll get to all that and more.
If you’ve been reading this blog for some time now, you know I’m a sucker for a couple of things – catchy pop songs and ones about escaping. “Ticket to Somewhere” isn’t exactly a Miley song, but if I were 16 and still living in my hometown this song would be on constant repeat. For me it’d be about leaving the place I hate, but for some it might be the anthem to wanderlust – it all depends on how you hear it. “Take This Chance” and “A Little More” both impressed all done up and in their acoustic forms, while “Thanks to CL, My FMLY & All My Homies” and “Extraordinary Life” just didn’t do it for me. I get you have to slow it down sometimes, but these weren’t getting me going like the others.
I’m still feeling the hit from that imaginary bus, but at least I was able to introduce you to a new album, right? So if you like your rock with a pop feel – Pilot For A Day is just the band you’ve been looking for. You can get your hands on Better Day now.
