Some mornings you wake up and are ready for the day – this morning was not one of them. I sat in bed staring at my iPod, going through a million nonsense emails and then finally decided to get up and get to it; slowly but surely. Now I’m at the end of my time with Everybody Looks Famous’ Earth and am taken back to a summer filled with nothing but message boards and good music.
There’s something simple about Earth. It’s not overdone – but at times I wish it was. Just once I wanted the vocals to take a big leap, but they remained safe and sound in an elegant manner. They were polite and never seemed to take a big risk in songs like “These Days” and “Hiding Places.” I will say that for what it’s worth, “Echo” will remain on playlists for the catchy factor alone. It’s “The Wanderer” though that’d I’d suggest to those who are taking on Everybody Looks Famous for the first time. It’s that one my ears kept demanding to hear on repeat.
This record reminds me of Paramore’s first outing before they found that real sass. It’s crafted well and put together in a neat package but I’d like to see where Everybody Looks Famous can take their sound from here on out. If you enjoyed All We Know Is Falling, then you’ll be pleased with Earth, out now.
