It’s been a minute since a review was posted up on here and it’s due to my lack of motivation caused by outside emotional forces. I feel like that’s my excuse every time and it’s wearing thin, but so is my sanity so bare with me as I Google free therapy and tell you about Annabel and Dowsing’s Split EP; one half like the top of the Frosted Mini Wheat with its sweeter take on things, and the other the base of it all.
Annabel would be the sweeter of the sides as “Always” played like a soft arrangement and while “Forever” was a bit heavier it wasn’t like they took a turn for Metallica status. Those songs played without conviction though. They were smooth and hard to hold onto. They were unlike Dowsing’s contribution, the wheat. I felt they told more detailed stories within the confines of “Fistful of Hot Wheels” and “World’s Finest Chocolate,” which by the way had nothing to do with Hershey’s at all.
So if you want something light, you stick with Annabel’s half and if you want something with a bit more filling you head towards Dowsing’s side of life. They balance one another out though and you’re not overwhelmed by one style over the other. They work together on Split to bring you a healthy dose of a musical meal. So check out Split, out now on Count Your Lucky Stars.
