Benbrick: Closer | Closure

benbrick-closer-closure-review This past weekend was one for the books, and I’m trying not to replay the events in my head because then excitement rolled in anxiety takes over. So I’m taking deep breaths and calming down with Benbrick’s Closer | Closure. It’s the perfect record for easing the nerves because it’s never overwhelming and has this Owl City caught in a slow motion dream feel.

Things started out on a sad note as “Forever Holding On” hit me like a dreary Coldplay tune. The music was really somber, and even though things never lightened up completely I will say “They All Say” did shine a little light on the situation when it followed that opener. I was surprised to hear a bad word dropped in “Who Holds You Together?” but was pleased with “And So She Runs.” I would peg that one as the “check this shit out before anything else” on the record.

If you need a musical escape from weekend mishaps/delights, then I suggest taking in some Benbrick. I also recommend this guy if you’re into electronic music that’s got more of that dream pop essence going on. Sound like you? Check out Closer | Closure, out May 12th.
