It’s one of those weeks where you question your existence and nothing really matters because compared to those in your social circle you’re a complete disaster and they’re all examples of adulthood perfection. So I’m glad I didn’t listen to something that was riddled with complete and utter happiness. Thankfully Somos’ Temple Of Plenty was next up on my list because it sounded as heavy as my heart feels and even had a couple tracks to be my go-to anthems of the week.
This record sounded like a dude who’d ditched the edge and took the emotional road to a place of solidarity to reflect on life. Songs from “Domestic” to “Dead Wrong” mirror that sentiment, however they weren’t the ones I’d run to for comfort. Seeing as my life compared to my friends is a dismal attempt, I really gravitated to “Lives of Others” within seconds. It was “Distorted Vision” though that came out on top thanks to the line most of us who feel like a burden on society feel, “I’d like to share my thoughts but I’m just another interruption.”
Now that’s good writing, hats off to that but overall it was the lyrics that made this record walk tall. The music never really made me turn my head and say, hey! But if you’re into bands like The Hotelier, then this is worth checking out so make sure to get yourself some Somos and their album Temple Of Plenty, out now on Tiny Engines.
