It’s Friday in (what I consider) the early AM and I’m having a little chilled dance party with Off & On’s Good Talk Vol. 1. Thank goodness no one is here to see my attempt at graceful movement. If you were in the market for some indie pop with a groove, quit shopping around – because it’s right here.
When “Madison” kicks in it sounds like a more dancey version of Linkin Park’s “Burn It Down.” See if you can hear it here. After that more of their mature dance party ensues as the rest of the record plays with more hits and just one miss. That one would be “Want To But Wont.” Compared to the rest it was the wallflower at the party, never bracing itself for a breakout moment. The star of the show though is forever “Find a Way.” It’s more about how the verses are delivered, the pace makes this one pop and the chorus is simple and offers up an easy way to sing along in an instant.
Let your hair down, forget about your responsibilities – oh wait, you might want to do that at around 5pm today instead. Sorry, I forget some of you have “real jobs” out there. For us freelances AKA unemployed people, we can get a head start but for the rest of you seeking out some indie pop…Make sure to put a reminder in your phone to spend tonight checking out Off & On’s Good Talk Vol. 1.
