Can we just take a second to start a slow clap for We Are The In Crowd? They’ve been on almost everyone’s “most anticipated” lists for a few months now and with only one week left until Weird Kids officially drops, they’ve garnered even more love thanks to releasing tracks here and there, and finally a stream. It’s obvious WATIC’s matured a bit from their often sassy pop rock back and forth, but they’ve managed to keep just a pinch of what makes them the band we’ve all come to know and love.
Let’s start with what we’ve known for some time now – “Attention” was awesome but was and will continue to be overshadowed by “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” aka the best thing of 2014. Those two, along with “Manners” are resonate of their previous records and we commend them for giving us that. We also tip our hats to the growth heard in “Don’t You Worry” and “Come Back Home” where Jordan sounds a little like John Mayer for a second. My favorite thing about Weird Kids is that it’s full of lines their fans will have to hold off getting permanently inked thanks to songs like “Long Live The Kids” and “Reflections.”
Now that the ovation has come to a roar, we’ll wrap this up. We Are The In Crowd didn’t disappoint with this one and their place atop anticipated lists is well deserved. Weird Kids takes a little of what they’ve mastered and took a step or two towards a more grown up sound. Alternative Press is streaming the record now, and you can get it for yourself February 18th thanks to Hopeless Records.
