Buho: Buho

buho-buho-reviewThere are two new flavors of Oreos waiting for me at Target today (hopefully) so I am working like a race horse to get to the finish line a champ today so I can head down there and make my taste buds cheer. Before I indulge in fatty functions, I am sitting down with Buho’s self-titled record and tell you about it; a pair of songs that I hope isn’t a sign of what’s to come later with the cookie excursion.

See, I’m worried about marshmallow crisp because I’m not a big fan of the white puffs. I feel they’ll be like “Endless Blur,” during which I was lost. The vocals were off in the distance searching for an easy way back. The mellows could be as overbearing as the music was in this track, leaving little room for the words to come through and making it difficult to care. Now “Night Clinics” no doubt will be the cookie dough – good all around. Everything was matched up perfectly for a successful song. When it came to the music and the vocals, no one was outdoing the other; there was never a fight for the spotlight. That’s how I hope it’ll be with the cookie dough and Oreo taste – both done evenly, so all are happy in the end.

If I remember, I’ll let you know in the weekly review on Saturday if the songs Buho created matched my cookie predictions – one being too much and the other being just right. All I can say for now is that Buho was evenly split down the middle. One half was muffled garage rock mixed with an ambient flare and gives Sparta fans something to enjoy, while the other was something an indie rock fan would cling to. Make sure to give both sides a chance and check out Buho, out February 4th on Crowquill.
