Last night before I went to bed I had a solid game plan and then I slept in a half hour late, debated over that Paramore/Fall Out Boy tour and was given a pile of work to do for a part time job (that’s clearly a full time gig I don’t get compensated enough for). So in between all that I had Armon Jay’s Everything’s Different, Nothing’s Changed playing. This music instantly clicked in my head as a contender for AC radio weekend countdowns.
The singer/songwriter appeal of Armon’s music is what stands out the most. His intricate weaving of storytelling with music that ranges from Fairy Tale induced comas in “Edge Of The Dark” to ones that have more pep in their step like “I’m Not Home.” You felt for the man behind the song, especially with the self realizations of “To Be Honest” and the telling “Flight From Sorrow.” Then came an unexpected punch of sass in “The Harvest.”
If you’ve fallen for that band Passenger who’s been on the Vh1 Top 20 countdown for what seems like 2553 consecutive weeks with “Let Her Go” then you might want to hold on to Armon Jay’s name to check out. His music is bare boned and telling storytelling to the core. Is that what you’re into, then check out Everything’s Different, Nothing’s Changed, out January 21st.
