slippertails-theres-a-distrubing-trend-reviewWho stayed up until 3am catching up on her TV shows and woke up at 7am? This gal! I’m starting to feel it as I sit annoyed by almost everyone I’ve ever crossed paths with. Then who reviewed an album that she’d already did – only to realize that after she was said and done…Oh the joys of four hours of sleep. Slippertails was on my list for tomorrow but with the 4th mistake of the day on the books, they slipped into my Thursday with their record There’s A Disturbing Trend.

If you opened a garage in 1994, there would sit a band like Slippertails. I’ve never seen them but they sound like they’re grungy dudes who shower whenever because cleanliness is too mainstream. I had no clue what was going on with “Walk,” but “Hip New Jerk” reminded me again of the 90’s with its muffled alternative rock ways. Then there was “I Will Peel You Open.” This was a love hate relationship. On one had it scared me because of not only the Ed Gein title, but the way the words creped out like a man in the bushes. Then I also loved it because of those same reasons…go figure, and Gein’s not even my favorite serial killer either.

Fans of dirty garage rock are destined to find Slippertails and get on board with whatever creepy and grungy thing they do. While you make a note that There’s A Disturbing Trend is out January 14th I’m going to go crash for a minute few hours.
