The couch kept me hostage for the last 20 minutes because any motivation I had upon waking has left with a bag and didn’t even leave a note about when it’d be returning. I’m hung over from a lack of sleep and doing what I can to stay awake because I really want to tell you about local LA band that I think you’re going to like. Enough of my sorry life, let’s get to Dekades’ 1.1.
Hey Stryker from KROQ, are you listening? This band is for that guy and anyone with same musical palette as the DJ. Dekades is rock that’s like that of a polished rock band that has some unkempt secrets looming beneath the surface. “1.1” is the stand out song as it’s the most attractive from start to finish, but it’s “Lester” that’ll catch the rock fans by the balls. It has this intimidation in it that I couldn’t hear in “Malnourished” or even “You & Him.” That pair played it safe and let the other two be the leaders of the pack with vocals that verged on haunting but had a softness; ghost rock?
The couch tried to tempt me back a few times as I wrote these words, but I held strong because Dekades needed to be placed before you. If you’re into rock music that’s adorned with dark undertones, but still somehow manages to sound like a dream world – then check out 1.1, out now.
