Sin: Fade Into

sin-fade-into-reviewOften times I compare a band’s sound to a venue in Los Angeles, because they’re like cliques in high schools across the country. The Troubadour is the elitists who drive BMW’s and never care about anyone else’s opinion, Staples is the popular kids everyone knows and then there’s The Whisky – those grungy kids who you rarely see in class because they seem to have something better to do. I’d place Sin and their album Fade Into right in that crew. I hear this band and I see them ditching class to hit up Sunset. They’re far too much for me, but there’s a clique out there waiting for them.

The music on Fade Into made me feel like I needed all black attire with silver accents in the manner of studded leather belts, bracelets and boots. Songs like “Beauty Feast” and “Sun Brusher” were like if you took 90’s alternative and stuck it somewhere between Hinder and Seether. The vocals were, um…interesting? Yeah, we’ll go with that since at times I was okay with it but then other times like in “Flesh of Flesh,” it was too much on the (not to sound like Randy Jackson) the pitchy side.

Being an EP, it’s not hard to point you in the right direction of songs to check out if you’re interested in that scene. Take notice of those first two and give Sin a chance and if you like what you hear, remember that Fade Into is out now.
