Wild Rompit: Spirit Moves

wild-rompit-spirit-moves-reviewThe teenage sarcasm of Daria is serving as the background noise as I write down my thoughts on Wild Rompit’s Spirit Moves. I thought I was getting into a band that was for the kids that fill their time with All Time Low, instead I got a band that could’ve opened for Matchbox Twenty this summer.

Wild Rompit’s sound is mature rock with uplifting incentives. “We Savages” mentions demons and later I got the sense that maybe they were into a higher power with the title track, “Spirit Moves.” At times things turned to folk with songs like “Howlin’,” and if we’re being honest, that’s the route I wish was traveled more often on Spirit Moves. Back to my original point, Matchbox Twenty toured with Goo Goo Dolls this summer and the album took a Johnny Rzeznik turn with “Average Heart.”

Our time with Wild Rompit has come to an end, but if you’re into bands like the aforementioned and Switchfoot, then they’re a band for you. Spirit Moves is out August 27th, so note it now and get it then.
