Yesterday I was MIA because if Backstreet Boys are in LA, you can find me not too far from them. So I’m sick today after spending 12 hours waiting in cold, hot and then cold weather. This morning was hard to get through and now I’m entering the afternoon with Honorable Mention Coalescence. It was the only thing I kept trying to write about in the AM, but failed at. Blast this headache and female pains. Without those, I would’ve gotten these words down earlier, but I’m here now trudging along to say that Honorable Mention latest is a quick, rough note in the pop punk spectrum.
The first half of Coalescence is more appealing, at least to me. Every cycle through, even when my headache wasn’t that bad, “Attitudes and Opinions” and “Sickened To Death” were the stronger tracks by a mile. It’s not to say the other half was lacking, it just wasn’t able to break through my ached head. Every track though stood tall on heavy pop punk with grizzled vocals places in between the thrashing.
Some Advil is calling my name, but after it’s consumed, I’m going to make sure to place Coalescence on my iPod because I did care for 50% of it, and that’s enough. Guess it’s kind of appropriate to dub this album an honorable mention? Maybe the other two will grow on me though. If you’re into bands like Indian Taker, then make sure to give Honorable Mention a whirl. Coalescence is out now and ready to be taken in by people like you – yup, you.
