Day 2 of sitting in a McDonald’s bumming some WiFi. I feel like a 21st century hobo, but you have to do what you have to, right? I heard the line “bitches be ratchet…she can’t get a fucking McGriddle…” from a couple of aspiring MCs, noticed a familiar face from the other day and discovered that they only play Bieber’s “Baby” 3432355 times an hour. I’m on my third hour in this corner and I’m thankful they haven’t tossed me out because I’ve got some things to say about Into It. Over It’s Life Is Suffering. I bet it will take you longer to read this than it will to listen to that record.
Only two songs fill Life Is Suffering, but they’re just enough for a quick musical journey. Well, less like a journey and more like a trip to the refrigerator. Only with this you’re left with a pair of tunes that complement each other well instead of lost thought; we waste too much time in front of open fridge doors.
“Wearing White” is the harder of the two and if it were done acoustic it would render you to think you were listening to some pissed off kid with a guitar, but with all the musical elements that surround it, you get this delicate but intimidating track. The other, “Anchor,” is a song I wish on every wishbone that Kenny Vasoli will find and cover. I can’t explain why my adolescent crush should do it, probably the mention of the west coast. While one of the lines softly exclaims “they all fucked up anyway,” the song is attractive. Yes, songs can be attractive.
b is for those who like the ways of Turnover and Dads. So if that’s you, congrats, here’s a new record for you to add and it won’t take up much space. You can spare the room for two tracks. Life Is Suffering is out June 25th via Topshelf Records.
