Time Warner called and cancelled our appointment because the internet started working, so why am I sitting here with nothing, on the verge of a meltdown? Because I after I write this, I have to walk down to McDonalds and post it, and sit there and do other tasks. I swear, I’m getting no money from the McFlurry sales this week for all the use of their name; I wish though. So as I sit with a blinking light mocking me, I listen to Stabbed In Back’s Wait For Light and realize that it’s the perfect music to listen to on the eve of Warped Tour.
Each song on Wait For Light was its own and encased a different idea and story. “Skull Eyes” was the first one to make me think of $2 egg rolls, multiple stages and the celebration of music; Warped Tour. It had a style that resonated with the nostalgia of punk on cassette. “Blaspheme” was the essential punk of protest and whatnot, while “Wait For Light” tackled love and reminded me a bit of He Is Legend when it came to the pipes. It was “Last Call” that made me smile wide though and not only because it reminded me of some very nice fellows from Vegas. The rundown of what this generation might be to some was great; “future failures,” “unbelievers” and “slobs and slackers.” I took this song as a piece of irony, but maybe the band really meant it.
Stabbed In Back is for fans of Kover and Harmful If Swallowed. So if you’re the kind of person who’s into that sort of thing, do something for yourself today and check them out. Wait For Light is out June 30th, so you have a handful of days to get ready for it to consume your life.
