Liar Liar: He Said, She Said

liar-liar-he-said-she-said-reviewNo, this is not a review of the Jim Carrey classic 16 years after the matter. Although that’d be a really interesting blog to read; movie reviews about movies that have been out longer than a decade. No Kendra, you cannot add another blog to your list. Okay brain, okay…I won’t. Instead of that I’ll just tell you why I’m here. It’s to tell you about this UK band I came across because I was lacking things to listen and review, and had to go on a hunt. Then there in the wild that is the internet, was Liar Liar and their EP He Said, She Said. Pop punk goodness staring right at me, ready for me to dig my teeth into.

With four songs, things were split evenly down the middle. I passed by “High ‘n’ Low” and “It Doesn’t Take a Hero.” They were okay, but nothing clicked in my head when they played. They were just buffers for the other two. “Heart Attack” is typical pop punk music with a sad tale about a girl. It’s catchy as hell and after a couple weeks with indie music and such, it was nice to hear something a little more my speed.

The other song that made my little heart grin was “People Never Change.” I couldn’t help but feel like an old black woman in a southern church during that one, because I kept saying, “Preach it boy!” This song again, is about a girl, well, all girls and how they’re all the same and drive the dude insane. Do I agree? Yes, girls’ are the main reason I could never be a lesbian. That makes total sense; girls are mentally the weirdest creatures on Earth. Except Olivia Wilde, she’s perfection.

If Liar Liar were to make their way over the US, I could see them touring with anyone from All Time Low to The Wonder Years. They’re just an average pop punk band who could mesh well in any setting you put them in, be it the poppy realm of ATL or the more angst ridden world of TWY. He Said, She Said is out now, so if you need something new, check it out.
