One of my “talents” is talking really fast like Six from Blossom. With that said, I’m going to go to that place in my mind and let you in on the what’s what of the Dowsing/Parker Split Ep/7”. A pair each, here we go…
“Somerset (Alternate Version)” makes you think, is it the alternate for another song, or is there some deeper meaning? That riddle distracted me the first couple run-throughs, but when I gave up trying to solve it, I listened. Dowsing the indie band from Chicago makes you think and then takes on a Say Anything shroud with “That Would Be A Lot Of Cool,” an obvious tale of a scorned lover. On the flip-side, literally Parker, another group of Illinois natives give off a Bayside scent with “Make It Home Safely” and Taking Back Sunday with “Eleanor Roosevelt.”
This split is short, four songs and really you can’t help but sit waiting for more to happen. Those who like the Dowsing contributions, they have plans to release a full album later this year. Parker more your style? Sorry, but I have no clue when you can expect more from them, so you’ll have to play the split on repeat until further notice.
Dowsing/Parker Split Ep/7” is out now on Count Your Lucky Stars Records, and both bands have some dates coming up so check out their Facebooks here and here for more on that.
