For the longest time rabbits have been my favorite animal and just this weekend I went to the animal shelter like always and fell for a white rabbit named Acacia. That’s why I can’t deny a band that has them in their name. So while I am a huge fan of The Bunny Hop’s name, I wasn’t so into their album Hair Helmet. It’s more for those who like classic cars, soda shops and modeling their style after The Outsiders.
Right away you’re introduced to a very masculine voice that likely cherished Elvis as a kid. “I Wanna Be In A Cover Band” has a ‘50s Rock ‘n’ Roll. You could hear the hair gel as each line was delivered. Things took a turn towards the beach with “How Does That Sound?” while “Wholesale” and “Tact” fell by the shore and failed to hit the high tides. I have a friend who would like this record because she looks like someone who stepped out of a pinup shoot and if she had anything to say, I bet she’d agree that “Big Intuition” was the best with “Cover Band” coming in a close second.
That’s her and people like her who have yet to say adios to the days when Richie Cunningham and The Fonz were the kings of cool, well one more than the other. If you’re into throwback, true blue rock and roll – then please check out The Bunny Hop and their record Hair Helmet, out March 17th.
