hunson-abadeer-grace-and-age-review

Last time Hunson Adadeer was in my hood it was the summer of last year and he was a boy with a lot of emotions aimed at a girl. They played out in an EP that was just okay a year he’s seemed to take on a new subject matter – one I could relate to a lot more. It seems like between 2013 and 2014 the boy behind Hunson Adadeer did some growing up, or at least tried to and realized that adulthood is a bitch on Grace and Age.

The awkward times are mentioned in “Dos Equis” and the title track was quick but good. However the prize of the record sits right smack in the middle with “Home Alone Wondering.” Whether you’re fresh out of school or wandering around aimlessly in your late 20’s, this song is for you. It’s about that anxiety you feel when left alone too long with your own thoughts. Hello, that’s my life in a nutshell – the Cliffnotes to my current state. Like Hunson Abadeer you wonder if you “did high school all wrong.” Then you wonder about everything else you may’ve fucked up along the way. I will say as much as I loved this song, I didn’t like “Rewind (Brittney).” It verged on creepy a bit being very minimal; it gave off an eerie vibe.

Once a boy with a notebook and a lot of feelings towards another, this year Hunson Abadeer looked a little elsewhere for inspiration and it suits him. Although his sound still has that indie folk, you can hear he’s grown a bit as an artist from then to now. You can check out his musical stylings on Grace and Age, out now.
