Day 2 of living that true blue blog life and I’m enjoying it with a pending lunch and fun times by listening to Pocket Watch’s A Personal Film. It’s definitely got that DIY sound shining through their indie style. The record was short and to the point, so we won’t drag out the thoughts on it…
“Pluto” acted as the intro and was quick. In under a minute you went from thinking they were covering Blink’s “Adam’s Song” to it transforming into the puzzling track. I’m not sure what it was about by the end. “Big Loser” and “Witching Hour” were just okay. The first lingered on while the second was a bit better – but it was “Hikikomori” that really did it for the record as a whole. It was the one song that truly stood on two strong legs and was both endearing and interesting.
We started with what I thought was a cover and then quickly got into the groove of what Pocket Watch was all about – indie that has a very DIY style. A couple songs were just okay while one of the four was enough to make listeners interested in more. If you like your music without all the fancy bells and whistles, check out A Personal Film, out now.
