You ever have those days where a minute stuck inside your own head feels like a lifetime? Well that’s me right now and I have to shake it off because I have too much shit to do to let someone’s week old words continue to get the best of me. So I’m trying to push those thoughts out with My Satellite’s Lift. It did an okay job, but not being my personal cup of tea – the music didn’t stick out as much for me as it likely would for another.
There were some slower tunes at the start like “Made & Left” and “Mariner Valley” that just bypassed my train of thought, but later on “Eve,” and “We Were Weightless” managed to slow things down without causing me my mind to wander. They were beautifully constructed gems at the end. As for the more upbeat tracks on Lift, “Olympus Mons” and “Pacific” brought to life an ambient party that fans of The 1975 and Bastille would flock towards.
If you’re a fan of that new rock that’s coming out that’s more like an alternative dance party, then you’ll like what My Satellite has going on most of the time, but note that they do like to slow it down and most of the time it works in their favor. Make sure to check out Lift if these words have sparked an interest, it’s out now.
