Some major truths about me…I don’t like condiments and I don’t know how to handle normal social situations. I’m pretty sure I’m messing one up right now, so all I can do from checking my Facebook messages constantly is take solace in Shellshock Lullaby’s Shades of Grey. It kind of reminded me of the pop punk I grew up with mainly because it sounds like the one man show is my age…
I appreciated the intro and outro; it gave things a nice start and finish, but the real breadwinners were of course what lay in between. “Shades of Grey” was the first inclination of that ’02 era of pop punk greatness, but while it was a reminder of better days, it wasn’t quite there. Shellshock Lullaby headed in the right direction but didn’t quite reach the destination just yet. That’s what can be said of the okay “All I Need” as well as the best from the album, “The Look In Your Eyes.”
I’m a little less stressed about the aforementioned situation, but frustration is still in the air. So while I deal with my issues, you make sure to give Shellshock Lullaby a chance because this effort was at least a six on a scale of 1-10. There were some key elements missing like a bigger moments and catchier hooks, but it has enough to make you give it a few spins. You can get your hands on Shades of Grey now.
