Sleep In: Settling

sleep-in-settling-reviewIt seems like every Wednesday I wake up earlier than I have to thinking I’m a necessity to something, but it’s recently been the case that I’ve been losing sleep over nothing. I wish I would’ve slept in but since I’m up and the bathroom’s being held up, I’ll take my extra snooze time in the form of Sleep In. Their latest record, Settling, actually did an okay job at making sure my eyelids didn’t slam shut.

Musically I loved what they did with songs like “Sleep Sound” and “Born To Fold.” But like always, I’m all about the construction of letters, and in that department I couldn’t help but fawn over the not-so-underdog “I Do Know and I’m Not Sorry” and the title track, “Settling.” They seemed to be a beginning and an end to someone’s battle with their self. The whole package came with “A Lot To Say” though. Musically and lyrically it read like a book you couldn’t put down even though it was 4am and you had to be up in two hours time. The vibrancy of it really made it the one to place on a pedestal.

It’s a shocker that I’m still even awake because usually by this point I would’ve glided slowly back to bed for a nap intended to be only 10 minutes, that’d last 45…Since I’m still here and a little pumped thanks to Sleep In, I’ll finish this up and take a shower. If you’re into bands like Into It Over It and Jimmy Eat World, than you’ll want to check this one out. Settling is out now on Hide Away Records.
