Before the last few years I didn’t judge Florida so bad. I’m not into politics so whatever they did in that one election didn’t faze me, plus two of my all time favorite musical loves hail from there. Then some stuff happened in courthouses and faces were eaten off – now I’m skeptical of it all. So going into New Cathedral’s Ghost, I had to keep a much opened mind and not compare them to bath salts…Lucky for me and you, the only thing they shred are guitars.
It’s not a metal grinding experience, but rather good old rock music coming from Ghost. Each song was a reminder that New Cathedral would be a good fit on a tour with 30 Seconds to Mars. They don’t have quite the same drama as Jordan Catalano, but the idea is there on songs like “Holy Ghost” and “Stealing Mirrors.” Then you have “Gold” where the music works overtime, and “Stay,” the more demure side of the band – a side I’d like to see more of. It’s always nice to switch it up.
While they might be a rock band from Florida, I didn’t feel threatened in the least while listening to New Cathedral so…you’re welcome. I took that chance for you. Now you can check them out for yourself without the fear of something horrible happening, especially if you like your rock with the basics. You can get yourself some Ghost right now, because it’s out and about and ready for you.
