Runaway Dorothy: The Wait

runaway-dorothy-the-wait-reviewGrowing up I was exposed to a lot of different sounds; metal from my brother, the blues from my dad and good ol’ country from my mom. Now it’s no surprise that I can listen to anything just so long as it’s good. So when Runaway Dorothy’s The Wait started, I knew I’d be up for their take on Country – adding just a pinch of folk and some alternative aspects.

The banjo was appreciated in “Hurry” while the lyrics of “Give Me A Reason” had a old wise man on a mountain feel; “time has its reason and wonder why.” All is all this was a record you sit down and recollect with. The majority of the songs like “Want It All” and “Ballad Of A Dead Man” aren’t the country you hear on pop radio, it’s more that back of the bar, lets question life kind of music that tells realistic accounts. Don’t get me wrong, I love crossover Country, I’m just giving you a look inside Runaway Dorothy incase that’s not your thing.

If you’re into Country that can wear a folk cloak and has a bit of an alternative flare, then Runaway Dorothy is just the band you’ve been looking for. You’re going to have to wait just a little though for The Wait to drop on February 25th.
