Topbunk: Better Sleep

topbunk-better-sleep-reviewLast night I fell asleep on the couch, then woke up at 6:30, crawled to bed and woke up at 9:30. I wanted to get a jump on the day at 8…Yeah, that didn’t happen and now I’m scrambling to get things done before I have to head out to meet with the demon AKA boss man. Kids, if you’re going to college – go with a focus or you will pay and life will be as chaotic as the music that comes from Topbunk’s Better Sleep.

When you take the hectic ways of punk and transplant an emotional ridden heart, you get Topbunk. Songs like “Branigan” and “Our Can Saw” mention failures and nervousness, so much so you’d think it was the soundtrack for those commercials for anxiety pills. The words are flushed out over coarse vocals, and chords to match, the only time things seemed to wind down a bit were when “Rosie Had A Stroke” came into play. I guess a stroke will do that, won’t it?

I’m thankful for my personal sleep today as I feel energized but my mind’s still as wild as the record Topbunk’s put out. If you like your bands to fall somewhere between Radical Dads and CityCop, then Better Sleep is what you need to get. Oh no, don’t go take a nap – go check out their record, out now.
