buffalo-tales-roadtrip-confessions-reviewSlowly but surely I’m heading back into my Annie Walker mentality, the one at the start of Bridesmaids, not the end; the girl who hates everyone and has a sarcastic mentality towards everything. I hate being this way but when editors make you feel useless and like shit, you can’t help it. Sorry my pitches aren’t worthy and I’m not a grammar Nazi. Thankfully I was able to find some sort of salvation in Buffalo Tales’ Roadtrip Confessions. This Americana/Folk record from an Aussie was surprisingly what I needed to not run onto the 405 with open arms.

I’d like to say I felt eased with every track from Buffalo Tales, but I didn’t. There were some that just played as my mind whirled about, but for the ones that were able to knock me out of my own conscious, thank you. From the back trail sounds of “Whispering Willow” to the sing along nature of “In My Time of Dying” and back to “Amsterdam,” I felt comfortable with each note sang. “Take This Waltz” had a part that reminded me of a slow take on Mariachi music, while “Tricks to Magik” brought me to think of Bryan Adams. For one of those long drives that leads to realization, I’d recommend “Puppet Strings” and “Please.” Just do yourself a favor and listen to those with open ears and take in every sound. You can thank me later.

If I could drive, I’d gladly take Buffalo Tales along for the ride; especially today. When it seems like you’re getting attacked by numerous directions it’s easy to want to run away, but instead I’ll just listen to this record a couple more times and take deep breaths. If you’re into artists like Zaac Pick and Tin Star Orphans, then check out Roadtrip Confessions, out now.
