Man Overboard: Heart Attack

man-overboard-heart-attack-reviewAfter a day of exerting myself to the limit, I’m feeling hungover. The best part is that I didn’t even drink yesterday. All I did was wake up early for an adventure. My creative folks will attest that anything before 10am is early. Those who live the normal lives of 9-5s won’t get it, but I commend you on your work ethic. So today as I sit with Man Overboard’s Heart Attack, I’m groggy and wondering, what the hell is a “suppy?”

Heart Attack is what’s to be expected from Man Overboard, but sadly this time around there isn’t any mention of the hilarious stuffed animals. The lyrics have grown up just a bit, but fans that have been there from the start won’t be sitting on ap.net bashing this record, they’ll praise it because Man Overboard didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. When it comes to which songs need to be added to their 30 minute Warped set though, I better here “Boy Without Batteries” and “Hoodie Song.” Walking away from Heart Attack, those two were the ones I looked back on and wanted to hear again. Mainly these two have to be set list contenders because if you’ve never seen Man Overboard, Zac Eisenstein has the best dance moves and if anything, these two tracks will garner the dance gems. Dear Zac,  I hope you’re working on something when you sing “nerdy little freak no one wanted to dance with.”

Coffee is foreign to me, but if I drank it and owned a maker, I’d be on my 7th cup. Since I never have and never will, I used Man Overboard’s Heart Attack for a pick me up and for the most part it did the job I set it up to do. No big surprises for me; just a record fans of Fireworks and Handguns. Man Overboard’s Heart Attack is out May 28th on Rise Records and you can catch them on Warped Tour, dancing about, all summer long.
