you-me-and-everyone-we-know-i-wish-more-people-gave-a-shit-reviewPeople like me spend almost all day in a confined space typing away. Social interaction isn’t something we strive for, but when it comes about we take it on like a foreign concept. Sometimes those events leave us confused, other times they’re okay and we walk away from them with a smile. Today was a smiling kind of day. Lunch with a friend I met through the world of blogging ended with me grinning and in a good mood. So with a positive mindset, I sat down with You, Me and Everyone We Know’s latest I Wish More People Gave a Shit. I came so late to the You, Me and Everyone We Know party, basically when it went from a band to a single dude. But I couldn’t let that shake my love, so I’m glad to hear that Ben’s still continuing on because me and his voice are getting pretty serious.

I Wish More People Gave a Shit starts in signature You, Me and Everyone We Know fashion; rants and ramblings with “I’d Contribute More Dead.” The honesty in the storytelling and the way the words weave together like a chain of gossip, on top of the vocals, are what drove me to collect every piece of music pertaining to YMAEWK. The party familiarity doesn’t stop as “The Big Mistake” and “Better Men” continue to guide me through another YMAEWK record. But I couldn’t help but thing “Better Men” sounded a little too like an older track. I waited for new material man, new! Lastly on the EP, “The Winds Won’t Change.” That slowed the pace of the record down and wasn’t one that really embraced what I love about YMAEWK’s music.

There’s still an ounce of happiness in me and today’s events wind down in my mind, but I Wish More People Gave a Shit helped to perk them up a bit, even if this EP wasn’t as solid as records past, I’m happy I actually bought this one (very rare for me) because I can’t help but support. If you liked previous records from YMAEWK then you’ll dig this one, there’s no real change in the style at all or the concepts. I Wish More People Gave a Shit is out now, so if you haven’t given it a listen do that right now.
