Northlane: Singularity

northlane-singularity-reviewLast night I stayed up until almost 3am (aka Rob Thomas) to watch the latest Arrow and write about it. Then I woke up to write about everything from Miley Cyrus twerking (still not sure what the kids are into these days) and Ryan Gosling (yum). At this point in the day my hands are cramping and I take a break, but then I’d be late in telling you about a new album. I didn’t want to waste another hour staring at 9gag, so instead I typed through the pain to being you some words about Northlane’s Singularity. If my eyes were weighing down, they popped open with this album and its metal infused music that filled my core with a bit of rage.

Just when you thought there was nothing more intense from Australia than their wildlife, here walks in Northlane’s Singularity. Songs aimed at cowards and nightmares filled this LP to the rim, and were doused in a heavy amount of metalcore. Northlane make realistic statements like “the truth is we all suffer” in songs like “Scarab,” and never let up when they continue to beat at eardrums with “The Calling” and “Windbreaker.” I was tossed a curve ball with “Quantum Flux” though, it starts out a burtst, but softens up with actual singing, but then heads back to what Northlane are best at.

Northlane’s Singularity was a break from what I had to do today, because it was something I wanted to do. So if you’re into bands like Hand of Mercy and Resist the Thought, then make checking out Northlane a priority for yourself and check out Singularity, out March 22nd on UNFD.
