Lost In Society: Let It Sail

A Sunday afternoon with Fatal Encounter on the television, everything in the apartment has been eaten and I’m sitting here looking at my noted on Lost In Society’s Let It Sail. They’re a trio of guys from Jersey who Golden Mixtape has grown fond of, so it was great to hear their new full length after the split they had earlier this year with American Pinup.

Through interviews we’ve gotten to know them, but this is the first time that we’ve taken them on in review form. A group that grew up on the foundations of punk birthed a record that’s more rock than anything else. As soon as “Guns” began I imagined these mature dudes who loved bands like Buckcherry, who’ve seen the ups and downs of the road for years, but remembered this was a band that’s set to play Warped 2012. They’ll definitely bring a different taste to the Warped scene this year.  I continued to scribble “rock” next to every track. That mature sound began to be something I thought about more and more as “Halloween Song” entered my world.

The beginning of “I Need You” and “Waiting” take some time to get to the meat of good tunes, but it’s another pair that serve as the main course of the record; “My Door” and “Not Alone.” After another lengthy intro, “Not Alone” is the best track overall, but “My Door” is a very strong contender for the title. If you’re into songs that are catchy, then that’s the one you need to seek out because for a straight out rock record, it’s got some catch to it.

If you like rock music that’s absent of glitz and trends, than Lost In Society’s Let It Sail is the kind of music for you. It’s like if you took Foo Fighters, put them in their 20’s and placed them in the year 2012. Their sound isn’t anything we haven’t heard before. It’s just a modern twist on the pure rock sound we like.

Let It Sail is out and about for your pleasure and you can catch them for two weeks on Warped Tour in July.
