5am wake up calls, that’s been my week thus far. Trying to balance three jobs, six blogs and TV season finales has proven there needs to be at least two hours added to the day. Would I use them to sleep? Nope, you’d still find me reviewing albums like Second to Last’s EP Vessel.
I felt bipolar with “Feels the Same.” On one hand I wasn’t into the amount of time it took to get to the song, but at the end wanted more of the musical break. Guess it’s all about where you like your pop punk laid out. Speaking of, fans of bands like Last Call are more than welcome to try Second to Last on for size.
My fellow west coasters’ “Turmoil” served up a new personal mantra with the line “I lose all my sleep to stress.” Then came “Dry Spell,” the star of Vessel. There wasn’t a point in the record where I wanted to skip forward. Last note, with “Cheap Sleep” you get this dual dynamic that’s like Man Overboard. So you can see (well read) that Second to Last’s Vessel is for fans of that pop punk revival.
Second to Last’s Vessel is out on Hella Mad Records June 5th, so you have some time to scrape some lunch money (for adults, grocery money) and prepare to get in on Second to Last’s Vessel. But lucky for you, the band is streaming the album on their bandcamp.
