Don’t you love when an album can hook you with the first track? You don’t have to spend time wasting your energy shuffling through the tracks looking for that “it” song. Thankfully when Forgetting Midnight’s A Place For All Our Broken Pieces I was into it with just one listen because of the Atari like essence of “Fear of Hearts.” That song, along with the remaining 11 did not disappoint. Yes, some stood out from the dozen because of their catchy demeanor’s, like “Truth Behind the Veil.” One listen and you know the words and find yourself embarrassing yourself, singing along in your cubicle…or in class (yes, I’m old). The Ataris sound is apparent, as is the old school Fall Out Boy feel of “Heart Carved Into An Old Oak Tree;” heartfelt pop punk all about a girl. If that wasn’t nostalgic enough for you, then you’ll probably be into “Love Struck Hate.” Listen and tell me you don’t hear a this generation’s Stephen Jenkins…So if my homework assignment was to summarize Forgetting Midnight’s A Place For All Our Broken Pieces I’d have to say rock for both young and not too old that’s got enough pop influence to make it, well pop and get stuck in your head for days on end. It’s fresh on the market so if this sounds like it’s up your musical alley, as always, please support the arts and pick up Forgetting Midnight’s A Place For All Our Broken Pieces.
