With an economy that has left many of us grounded, it’s good that Dave & Marissa have provided an musical ticket to allow those of us stuck in the confines of our living rooms to imagine being underneath streetlights that are not our own.

“Brooklyn & Mass.” two places I need to see are captured in one of the fantastic four on Dave & Marissa’s new EP …Move on. It’s not every day a man’s vocals are more melodic than his female counterpart, but in this east coast anthem, Marissa has a more brash sound that takes control of the situation. It reminded me of the little bohemian The Glass Child. The to and from between Dave and Marissa kind of mirrored the traveling one would do between the two cities.

There’s nothing bad about “Bad Start” unless you dislike family get togethers with the backdrop of Nashville. It’s slow at first, but then picking up to create images of knee slapping and jug blowing. From the southern charm to a coffee shop back up the coast in the lower East Side, “Just Too Scary” will have you singing along after one…maybe one and a half listens. It renders java infused, intellectual conversations in a liberal college setting.

But when the traveling is over and done, you have to just, wait for it …Move on. “Moving Day,” it’s a day that any of us who have ever moved will know is a hectic day indeed. Mountains of boxes containing your life story stacked in the back of pick-up trucks. Dave & Marissa take what is an insane event and doesn’t speed up the busy lyrics, but deliver them in the slowest paced song of the entire journey. If you want to read into it, “…and we all move on” seems to be a message about more than moving ones personal belongings, and more about the internal moving on we all must do.

Dave & Marissa’s …Move on is for those who like Monsters of Folk and Schuyler Fisk in their earbuds throughout the day while they sit in reality wishing to be anywhere but there.
